About

Nebojsa Delja

My painting is a sum of my education and many years of experience in the field of art and engineering. Both have become stunted by time, and my memory decays.

I began painting in the seventh decade of my life, so it can be called a biological experiment. I found inspiration in the examples of Daniel Dafoe and the excellent Hokosai Nagata, alias Kanaga Okimura. The lessons I learned from painters were always in my mind.

One does not need to travel to the end of the world to have adventure; it can be found by risking everything in your own work, regardless of the circumstances. I am fortunate that my life has been long, my career successful, and risks are now few.

Lately there has been too much reality and not enough of dreams. I have been captured in a Fata Morgana of the joy in life and the visual adventure of past dreams.

In my paintings, I understand time and space like Jules Verne and his followers. This represents a comfortable place in my life; to return to the images and pleasures of my childhood. I am spending these present moments exactly as I hoped and imagined

Vincent Van Gogh once said, "There may be a great fire in our soul, yet no one ever comes to warm himself at it, and the passers-by see only a wisp of smoke."

I created the ability to hear and see what others cannot notice.
